Mass Technology Leadership Council Honors

Technology and Business Leaders for Outstanding Achievement in Information Technology

Adobe CEO Bruce Chizen Delivers Keynote at Awards Banquet

BOSTON, Mass., – October 12, 2006 – The Mass Technology Leadership Council, Inc. announced the recipients of the Council’s annual Technology Leadership Awards honoring Massachusetts companies and individuals who best exemplify leadership and excellence in business and technology.  The Technology Leadership Awards are the only awards that recognize outstanding achievement in both the development and deployment of information technologies that address critical business issues.  Fourteen companies and individuals received awards at the Council’s annual awards banquet, held last night at the Copley Marriott.

Adobe Chief Executive Officer Bruce Chizen delivered the event’s keynote address.  Mr. Chizen discussed how the current myriad of communications devices, an explosion of content and the Internet pose the challenge of communication overload.  “There are 1.3 billion emails sent an hour, 5 billion IMs a day and still over 59% of these are seen as irrelevant by the receiver,” outlined Bruce Chizen to the over 250 attendees. “Any company that does not figure out communities and how and when to use them will be left behind.”

The 2006 Awards program began with an open nomination process.  More than 150 nominations were received for the awards. Thirty-four companies and 18 individuals were announced as finalists at two executive Networking Sessions held during the summer. Final selections were made by a select group of leaders and influencers in the Massachusetts technology community and finalists were evaluated based on recent achievements in making significant contributions to the industry, customers, and their businesses. The Council’s 2006 Awards program was co-chaired by Council Trustees Deb Besemer, CEO of BrassRing, Inc., and Mary Finlay, Deputy CIO of Partners HealthCare.

“The Mass Technology Leadership Council is committed to fostering entrepreneurship and promoting the success of companies that develop and deploy technology across industry sectors and these awards are an important part of this effort,” said Joyce Plotkin, president of the Mass Technology Leadership Council.  “These honorees represent the spirit of innovation, the history of accomplishment and the future promise that define the Massachusetts technology community.”

The Mass Technology Leadership Council will begin accepting nominations for the 2007 Mass Technology Leadership Council Awards in the first quarter of 2007. Winners will be announced in the fall of 2007. For more information, visit www.masstechleaders.org.
