Ms. Carol Vallone
CEO & Chairman of the Board, Wimba
Carol Vallone is Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board at Wimba. In this role she is responsible for the overall strategic direction of the company as well as the global operations of sales and services.
Vallone is a seasoned technology executive with more than 25 years experience launching new products and services and building multi-national businesses within the technology and educational sector. Prior to her role at Wimba, Vallone launched Universal Learning Technology, Inc (ULT), the company that developed and delivered the first internet-based learning technology for education, which later acquired and took the name of WebCT. Vallone was President, CEO and Chairman of WebCT until it was acquired by Blackboard, Inc. in 2006. Prior to founding ULT, Vallone served as President of Information Mapping,Inc. (IMI), and before that specialized in launching new businesses at UCCEL Corporation,Software Arts, Inc., Honeywell Information Systems, Inc., and International Data Corporation.
Vallone has twice testified before the US Congress - for the Web-based Education Commission on The Internet, and also for Distance Learning and the Future of the Research University. She also served as a member of the National School-to-Work Advisory Council during the Clinton Administration where she worked with the U.S. Secretaries of Labor and Education to integrate school and career activities.
In addition to her role as chairman of the board for Wimba she also serves on the Board of Directors of Beverly National Corporation, Board of Directors of Demandware, Inc., Board of Trustees of the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council, Board of Trustees of McLean Hospital, and as the Chair of the Massachusetts Education Foundation.
Vallone is a graduate of University of Delaware.
