The world of IoT has some specific challenges not generally found in typical computer systems, as well as a number of opportunities to merge business system information with data flowing from specific devices. At PTC’s LiveWorx17 event back in May, the CEO Keynote walked through a set of scenarios that encompassed CAD, FEA (Finite Element Analysis), Simulation, PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), CRM (Customer Relationship Management, SLM (Service Lifecycle Management) and of course, IoT. Not only did it look at the IoT data available from the featured device, it hooked that data into more than just the service department. We’ll explore the actual set of ideas for integrating all these systems across the business, plus look at some other issues not addressed specifically by the keynote.
