In just a few years, cloud computing has steadily become an integral part of every CIO’s and CTO’s toolbox used to increase efficiency, reduce capital costs and accelerate business. The cloud has become impossible to ignore as enterprises operate leaner and use more agile tools and methodologies to support innovation.

However, many still believe the Cloud is still in its infancy. With all the buzz over the past few years on the Cloud, what is pushing it forward and what is holding it back?  And with some of the recent outages, how do you balance the promise with the risk? What are the true business benefits that are rapidly shifting companies to the cloud and how is this measured?

Join us for thought-provoking speakers, in-depth sessions and a showcase of solution providers to help you better understand the ecosystem and set your strategy for accelerating your business.

8:00am Keynote Speaker:

Scott Davis, CTO end user computing business unit, VMWare will share his perspectives and vision of the Cloud and what the future holds.

8:30am Opening Session/Fireside Chat:

Join Michael Skok, General Partner, North Bridge Venture Partners, for a fireside chat with Paul Sonderegger, Senior Director, Analytics with Oracle.  As the chief strategist around Oracle's big data discovery products, Paul will explore with Michael how big data is driving cloud adoption and what we should expect in the years ahead.   Michael will also share the results of the 2012 Future of Cloud Computing survey.

Breakout sessions:

Session 1A: Think Like a Start-up - Accelerating your Business with the Cloud

We all try to establish innovative products fast. For the larger, more mature businesses, these initiatives are part of larger corporate processes that can be cumbersome. The cloud can help if you need speed and agility.  In this session you will learn how start-ups and established companies use the cloud to accelerate innovation and move their business forward.

Session 1B: Where, When and How to Partner for Success in the Cloud

SaaS vendors and others who are seeking to compete more effectively in the market place and focus on their core competencies are doing all they can to leverage 3rd party vendors.  The question becomes, how do you evaluate which cloud service providers you want to use and what services you want to leverage to fully capitalize on the 3rd party resources available to maximize success? How do you partner to deliver a stronger portfolio of services to your customers? At this session you will learn from others where, when and how you should leverage hosting providers and other service providers to deliver a better set of solutions to your customers via cloud partnerships.

Session 2A: Transitioning and Scaling in the Cloud

For many technology providers, the transition to a cloud-based delivery model is a hugely daunting proposition.  Everything about your business changes - revenue models, margins, software development, sales & marketing and more.  While your customers may gain in terms of agility and always being on the latest version, they will have lots of questions, such as:

  • How do you ensure the security of my data?
  • How to I integrate your application with my other systems and apps?
  • How will you meet the SLAs I need for my business users?
  • Are you going to be able to scale your system to meet demand?

As the vendor/provider, how do you meet your customers' requirements cost-effectively? What are some of the common mistakes and pitfalls of transitioning to a cloud-based delivery model? How do you avoid having your infrastructure become the achilles heel of your new customer experience?  What changes in the way you market, position and sell your solution once you are in the cloud?

In this panel you will hear from leaders who have been through this transition or are currently making their way.

Session 2B: Managing and Mitigating Risk

While the future of the cloud looks bright, lingering concerns about security and recent outages are casting a shadow on deployment, sidelining some companies as they grapple with concerns related to security and up-time.  Join this thought provoking session to discuss where the industry has come in the past few years and whether your concerns are warranted.  Learn from the experts the lessons learned from the recent outages and how you can engineer your systems and strategize to manage and mitigate risk.
