Closing the Talent Gap

Gerry Beuchelt, Demandware; Edna Conway, Cisco; Josh Feinblum, Rapid7, Dave Krupinksi, Care.com

A recent (ISC)2 report states that nearly two-thirds of 14,000 organizations worldwide reported that they need more security professionals. The hiring shortfall is less about money than it is about an insufficient pool of suitable candidates. Certainly the advancements in the variety and sophistication of cyber-threats plays a role - but the growing risks associated with mobile, cloud-based services and the Internet of Things are contributing to the rising demand for talent and a workforce that encompasses a broader range of qualifications. Rather than focus on doom and gloom, we need to come together and address the talent challenge head-on. We have great talent in Massachusetts. How can we retrain our existing workforce to meeting this growing trend?

Our panel will discuss trends, approaches being used to combat this serious issue, and will engage the audience in exploring how we can affect change from a regional level both near and long-term.

Coming Soon! The Next Security Mecca - Boston!

Moderator: Greg Dracon, .406 Ventures; Panelists: Bob Brennan, Veracode; Omar Hussain, Imprivata; Elizabeth Lawler, Conjur; Patrick Morley, Bit9

The room is going to be packed with an immense amount of brain power. After all, that’s what Boston is known for - and that’s what the security space is all about. So, let’s take full advantage of it!

Over the past few years, venture capital dollars in Boston have shifted from traditional network companies to cybersecurity. We’re bringing together a panel of local CEOs who will lead us in a conversation about what we can we do as a whole to grow and support the thriving security ecosystem.

Take our established security powerhouses and add in the thriving security startup up community, and Massachusetts is poised to become THE security mecca. This session will focus on how we can learn and grow from each other through investment, mentoring, education, and buying local to ensure the strength of our security sector, the ecosystem in general and our own individual businesses.

2:25 – 3:10pm

Conquering the Next Frontier

Sam Bisbee, ThreatStack; Kate Driscoll, MinuteManHealth; Harold Moss, Akamai; Kevin O’Brien, GreatHorn;  Chris Zannetos, Courion

In just the past 12 months, the breadth and cost of data breaches and security failures have increased significantly. In the wake of Anthem, OPM, Ubiquity, the IRS (and all those yet to come!), what lessons can we learn about the future of InfoSec? How can organizations remain nimble without compromising their security posture, and what nascent trends will dominate minds and budgets in the months to come?

In this closing session, we will ask a leading practioner, strategist and vendor to share what keeps them up at night as we look toward the future confluence of infrastructure and security.

3:10 - 3:15pm
