CMO Peer Group: Measuring the Customer Journey

 

Customers go through a journey from understanding your brand to researching problems, solutions, purchasing, retention and ultimately advocacy.  Marketing has a role to play in almost all of these stages. With a finite amount of people, money and time, how do you know how much to invest in each stage?  What measurements can you use to determine the right amount of investment?  While simple funnel metrics are interesting,  they really only focus on the middle part of the journey. In this CMO roundtable,  Bryan Semple will lead the group in a discussion of how all of us measure each stage of the journey.  You will walk out with a white board filled with possible metrics suitable for framing and use.

This session will be led by Bryan Semple, Chief Marketing Officer at SmartBear Software.

  

 

                                

Bryan Semple comes to SmartBear from Dell where he worked for the CMO of Dell Software Group to expand high velocity sales and marketing processes across the Dell software portfolio. He joined Dell after the acquisition of VKernel, where he served as CMO. At VKernel, Semple developed and expanded a try/buy download model that grew the business 100% and help lead to the company’s successful acquisition by Quest Software, then Dell. Bryan holds a BS in Systems Engineering from the US Naval Academy and an MBA from Stanford University. He blogs on measuring marketing effectiveness at www.storymetrix.com and has published a book on the topic titled “Digital CMO’s Guide to Marketing Measurement - Think Like a Submariner For Operational Success” available from Amazon.
