Frequently Asked Questions
Why did the two organizations merge?
The combination creates a single “go to” resource for our members and the broader technology community. It reflects a convergence across the technology sector that is creating new opportunities and new markets emerge. By combining, we unite the Massachusetts technology sector under one tent, create a stronger voice for the technology community, and can devote our combined resources to accelerating innovation, entrepreneurship and company growth across the Commonwealth’s technology sector.
What kind of impact will there be on members?
Members will gain additional insights and networking opportunities with peers across the technology buyer and developer communities, from mobile and digital games to energy and financial services. Members of each organization will benefit by gaining access to a broader range of programs and activities than is currently available in either organization. Though small roundtables and other forums, members will connect, share best practices, and build meaningful relationships in an intimate setting. Furthermore, our members will benefit from opportunities to interact and network broadly at major events including our combined Annual Meeting and Awards program, and our signature Innovation unConference, which serves as a catalyst for fostering entrepreneurship in the region. Existing memberships in both Councils will continue in the combined organization and rate structures will be synchronized going forward.
How will this impact the staff, and leadership, of both organizations?
We are working to build the best organization and as such will be adding MassNetComms board members to the MassTLC board, several of whom will join the executive committee. Tom Hopcroft will continue at President & CEO and Mark Horan will join as an SVP with responsibility for policy, workforce, and integration of the MassNetComms membership.
