MIT CSAIL Working Group Bridges Gap Between Rural, Digital Economies

Last week at TRANSFORM, MassTLC brought together executives, academics, and government leaders to discuss macro-trends, global upheaval, and technology. In most of Massachusetts, a digital, global future may seem like a given. What, though, about Americans living and working in the interior of the country? How can we ensure they are not left behind during this time of rapid technological change?

MIT roboticist Daniela Rus, director of MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) is one of several academics attempting to address these complicated questions through a partnership with Kentucky’s Future of Work Initiative, created by MIT alumnus and former Univision executive, Sam Ford.

The goal? To bridge the gap between the coasts and the interior – and to not only help Kentucky learn from MIT, but more importantly, to help MIT learn from Kentucky.
