About Women's Initiatives

Massachusetts technology companies are creating more jobs than they can fill due to a shortage of job-ready talent. Women and minorities are two obvious and talent-rich pools of resources that, while relatively strong in Massachusetts, remain under-represented in technology.

Tech companies continue to lack diversity from the board room to coders, to analysts and marketers. The low number of women working in tech isn't just a concern for companies worried about the image problem of a male-dominated workforce, it's also a business challenge. It's necessary for companies to attract highly-qualified women to help fill these positions as diversity of thought, people and cultures creates better teams, products and strengthens financial performance. The result is a diverse, inclusive culture that welcomes all points of view and creates a great place to work and a successful organization.

The MassTLC Women’s Initiative will help empower women in the tech workforce, grow MA tech talent organically and amplify the opportunities in the MA tech ecosystem.

Technovation Global Technology Entrepreneurship Program

What is Technovation?

Technovation is an international program that teaches mobile app development, entrepreneurship, and commuity engagement. High school and middle school female students work in teams of up to 5 to develop mobile apps to solve a problem in their local community.

Teams work with a classroom teacher or coach at their school and a female mentor/role model as project manager from the technology or related industry. Each professional mentor works with a team of girls to guide them through each week of Technovation’s 12-week curriculum.
