Hack My PhD: Transferring PhD Skills to Industry

There has been much written about the talent crisis and skills mismatch in the U.S. labor market, particularly in the tech sector. An interesting trend contributing to this picture is the anemic employment rate among doctoral degree holders, which hovers around 40%. While there are differences among areas of concentration, there is a fundamental challenge for PhDs.

To address this challenge, Brandeis University is hosting HackMyPhD, a daylong introduction to entrepreneurship. This program provides PhD candidates and degree holders information and workshops on how skills they gain while completing their PhD are transferable and valuable beyond the lab and classroom. This is also a great opportunity for companies to meet unique candidates with a range of analytical, research, and communication skills.
