Over 150 middle and high school students from across Massachusetts gathered on Saturday, May 12th, for the 2018 Technovation Regional Showcase at Wentworth Institute of Technology. This event was the culmination of months of hard work, site visits, workshops, and webinars that would not have been possible without the dedicated support of over 100 volunteer mentors, judges, and community members.
Technovation is an international program that teaches mobile app development, entrepreneurship, and community engagement to girls aged 10 to 18. MassTLC’s Education Foundation hosts the MA/RI regional competition round. The Showcase brings together those teams that would like a chance to present and pitch their original and innovative ideas in-person to the community.
- 292 girls total registered for Technovation 2018
- 47 teams completed Technovation 2018
- 146 girls participated in the Showcase
- 41 teams participated in the Showcase, including 4 teams that we welcomed from Rhode Island to join the festivities
- 52 volunteers served as posterboard judges for the Showcase
The top 3 junior teams (ages 10-15) and the top 7 senior division teams (ages 16-18) had the opportunity to pitch in front of a special panel of 5 guest judges, including representatives from our sponsors and our host, Wentworth Institute of Technology.
