Battle Over Net Neutrality Heats Up This Week

Netroots activists, tech giants, startups, and consumers are gearing up for Battle for the Net on July 12th. This full day of activity is an effort to sway the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) from rolling back regulations that prohibit carriers such as AT&T and Charter Communications from blocking or slowing down web content from other companies.

The FCC will entertain public comments on the proposed rollback until August, so opponents of the change are mobilizing to draw attention to the issue and to encourage companies and end-users to lobby the FCC. Locally, Senator Ed Markey has released information on the day of action (see the links below).

National ISPs and carriers plan to fight back in favor of the proposed changes and will also be running digital, social, and lobbying campaigns as well.
