For the second year, Cengage participated in NewCo Boston, a live innovation festival where companies open their doors to the community to offer an inside look at what they do. Hosted by the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council (MassTLC), NewCo gives attendees an intimate view of more than 85 leading tech companies in Massachusetts.

On a Mission

More than forty people came out to hear Cengage representatives speak about their roles and experience at the company. George Moore, Chief Technology Officer at Cengage, talked about the company’s student focus and credo, as well as the technology that drives it all. Cengage Head of Talent, Jill O’Connell, offered more of a personnel perspective, highlighting the importance of employee engagement, learning and development.

Up Close and Personnel

The group also heard personal stories from a panel of employees. Ryan Ahern, Senior Marketing Manager at Cengage, told guests about his journey from teaching to publishing. Nicole Naudé, Cengage Content Engineer, shared why she’s passionate about creating tools that engage students and improve learning outcomes. The panel was followed by a lively discussion with the audience about a number of topics ranging from technology to instructor relationships. Throughout the session, the theme of inspiring student success and building confident learners continued to shine through.

NewCo was a great opportunity to welcome new faces to the company and participate in Boston’s thriving innovation community. Cengage plans to stay in touch with attendees and participate in more innovation sessions in the upcoming year.
