The Tech Runs Boston community at Masstlc hosted an interactive webinar in which Nikhil Paul, culture and team coach, walked attendees through a workshop on how building a personal network and brand can accelerate your career.
The first part of the workshop focused on self-awareness. What do you want? What type of work gets you excited? Where do you want to be in 2 years? These questions helped us all focus on what motivates us in our careers.
Next, we focused on our own skills. What are you really good at? Are you decisive or contemplative? Do you prefer working in groups or one on one? What types of problems do you like to solve? This activity helped us to learn where we excel, and also identify where we can improve.
After that, we learned about identifying your evangelists in your network and how to build those relationships. Nikhil told us if there was one key message to takeaway, it was this: “Surround yourself with people who see your value and remind you of it.”
