Kronos at Boston TechJam: Making Connections

Born and Bred in Massachusetts

Kronos makes innovative workforce management and human capital management (HCM) software solutions for businesses, healthcare providers, educational institutions, and government agencies of all sizes to help attract and retain talent, pay and develop employees, manage labor costs, improve productivity, and minimize compliance risk. With more than 35,000 customers across the globe, 40 million people touch a Kronos solution every day.

Born and bred in Massachusetts after being founded as an MIT start-up in 1977, Kronos has grown into the world leader in its industry with 6,000 employees (a.k.a. “Kronites”) around the world. In 2017 – on the company’s 40th birthday – Kronos opened a new state-of-the-art corporate headquarters at Cross Point in Lowell. With nearly 1,600 employees working in Massachusetts – where it was named the #1 Best Place to Work by The Boston Globe in 2018 – Kronos is committed to the local tech ecosystem and giving back to the communities where Kronites live and work through its GiveInspired philanthropic charter, which supports local organizations like Coalition for a Better Acre, ICIC, Project LEARN, UMass Lowell, and UTEC.

WorkInspired

Much of Kronos’ success can be attributed to its award-winning “WorkInspired” corporate culture that attracts, retains, and inspires top talent. In fact, CEO Aron Ain literally wrote the book on using employee engagement as a growth strategy with his 2018 release of “WorkInspired: How to Build an Organization Where Everyone Loves to Work.”

Kronos prioritizes family and work-life harmony with a focus on innovation, career advancement, and employee wellness in the workplace, driven by the belief that every employee deserves a great manager. Managers are held accountable to lead with courage, humility, trust, and transparency through the company’s unique Manager Effectiveness Index initiative. Kronos also offers an extensive variety of benefits and perks aimed at empowering all employees to be engaged and bring their whole selves to work. These programs include:

    • myTime, our unlimited paid time off policy,
    • Student debt repayment assistance
    • Tuition assistance
    • Veteran education, certification, and returnship opportunities
    • Fully paid parental leave for moms and dads
    • Adoption financial assistance; childcare financial assistance
    • College scholarships for children of Kronites

On top of being named a FORTUNE “100 Best Companies to Work For” and a Glassdoor “Employees’ Choice Best Place to Work,” Kronos has also been named one of Fortune magazine’s Best Workplaces for Millennials.

Test Your Strength, Reaction Time, Hand-Eye Coordination at BTJ

BATAK Pro is returning to the Kronos booth for yet another year, and we’ll again be giving away prizes for the top three scores. It’s a competitive yet fun way to test strength, reaction time, and hand-eye coordination, and has been a huge hit with BTJ attendees. For those who don’t crack the top three in BATAK, we’ll be handing out other fun giveaways and snacks while they learn about career opportunities at Kronos.

Excitement for Boston TechJam grows each year and was amplified further in 2018 as Kronos partnered with MassTLC to host the 4th annual Battle of the Interns at the event. All Boston TechJam tickets were claimed by Kronites in just over a week this year!

Also, for our money, the annual Battle of the Interns event is one of the best days of the year. It’s so inspiring to see an event that started in the Kronos parking lot years ago evolve into what’s become the preeminent competition for young tech talent in the state.

Making Connections

Kronites by nature are curious and crave learning opportunities – so networking and hearing about other Massachusetts-area tech leaders is certainly on the top of the list. And we like to have fun while networking, and that’s where TechJam shines. Playing games and winning prizes while enjoying a delicious meal or two with a new acquittance can’t be beat.

The best part about TechJam is simply the connections we make – personally and professionally – while learning about other innovative companies in the Massachusetts tech economy. The overall vibe of TechJam is fantastic. The music, games, food trucks, giveaways. Having such an inspiring, fun, and engaging atmosphere makes it so much easier to network.
