Meet Our New Growth Community Co-Chair: Allison MacLeod, CMO, Flywire

We are thrilled that Allison MacLeod, the Chief Marketing Officer of Flywire, recently joined the MassTLC Growth Community as a Co-chair.

Get to know Allison through our Q&A below.

What is your current role?

I am currently the Chief Marketing Officer at Flywire – a global payments enablement and software company. I lead the amazingly talented global marketing team that leads our go to market efforts across our key verticals (education, healthcare, travel & B2B), corporate communications & brand, digital & demand gen, product marketing and payer marketing.

What is your professional background?

I’ve spent my entire career in go to market and growth roles, mostly on the B2B side. Previous to Flywire, I was at Rapid7 for seven years and had the great privilege of building and leading the demand generation and business development functions and also led a cross functional team focused on new customer acquisition. Before that, I spent a number of years at Forrester Research in corporate and global field marketing roles. I started my career in product marketing and marketing operations, and was fortunate to get experience across different marketing functions which helped me on my career path to CMO.

Why do you like what you do?

I love that marketing is at the intersection of so many functions and teams internally at an organization, as well as external facing with clients, prospects, partners, media & analysts. I’m a big believer that marketing does many things, but they should all fall under two key pillars of how a team operates and what they are driven by: 1) Telling the company story, and 2) driving revenue and accelerating sales. I’ve had the great fortune of being front and center in Flywire’s recent IPO in May and it was truly the highlight of my career. We have an amazing story to tell of how we help our clients get paid, and help their customers pay with ease from anywhere in the world. When you’re at a company where your CEO ‘gets’ marketing, you have amazing clients, are mission driven and part of the most amazing global and collaborative culture, your job as a CMO is that much more fulfilling. But most of all, I love building, coaching and developing teams – this by far is my favorite part of what I do.

What do you like about being part of the MassTLC Community?

I’ve been involved with Mass TLC at two companies now and it is such a great place to not only learn and network with other growth leaders, but Mass TLC has so many initiatives to help companies and individuals grow and be better. From
