AAPI, anti-Asian hate

Rejecting Racism

Once again, we have been confronted with news of horrific racist violence, this time aimed at the Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities. These communities have long endured racist treatment, and more recently we have watched with growing concern the tremendous escalation of anti-Asian sentiment, culminating in this past Tuesday’s appalling acts of violence.

MassTLC Rejects Racism

We are heartbroken over these acts and send our deepest sympathies not only to the victims of Tuesday’s attacks and their loved ones but also to our friends and colleagues in the AAPI communities. We know that traumatic acts like these affect you in deep and lasting ways, and we want you to know that we support you.

This past year of racial reckoning has laid bare what so many underrepresented groups know and experience on a daily basis—we are a country beset with racial injustice and violence. Racism weakens our communities and our society. We recognize this and want to be clear that we unequivocally stand against all forms of racism, bigotry, and hate.

We have an opportunity in our community to confront our history of racial injustice, proactively address discrimination, and demonstrate our willingness to be upstanders and allies. My team and I are happy to discuss the work that MassTLC, our Executive Diversity and Inclusion Steering Committee, and our members are doing in this area, and we invite you to contact us to learn how you can be involved.

Be well,

Tom Hopcroft and the MassTLC Team
