The New Massachusetts Data Breach Law – An Update

Massachusetts recently passed the Data Breach Notification Law, a new law that, among other criteria, “requires businesses and others that own or license personal information of residents of Massachusetts to notify the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation and the Office of Attorney General when they know or have reason to know of a breach of security.”

The law, in other words, toughens reporting requirements for organizations hit by data security breaches. Is your company prepared to comply?

Foley Hoag partner Colin Zick and counsel Chris Hart presented a webinar for Associated Industries of Massachusetts (AIM) that provides a big picture overview of the data privacy legal landscape, including the new Massachusetts Law, GDPR, and more. It’s a great resource for anyone seeking to understand the real-world impacts of these and upcoming changes to the legal business environment.
