Embue: Meet Tech Top 50 ‘Clean Tech’ Honoree

The MassTLC Tech Top 50 celebrates tech companies and leaders across the region who have made a significant impact in the community during the past 12 month. This year, we are excited to recognize winners across 11 categories: Business Accomplishment, Environmental Impact, Leadership, Mosaic (for DEI leadership), Social Responsibility Impact, and the Technology of the Year categories: Advanced Manufacturing, Clean Tech, Consumer Tech, Cybersecurity, Healthcare Tech, and Robotics.

Forty-nine honorees were chosen across these categories, with the final recognition, the Commonwealth Award, given to industry pioneer and co-creator of the spreadsheet, Dan Bricklin.  View the full list of Tech Top 50 winners, here.

Over the course of the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing more about each of the recipients to spotlight their accomplishments and their impact on customers, partners, employees, and the broader community.

Today, meet Embue, one of this year’s honorees for Clean Tech.

Embue’s cloud platform delivers building automation and analytics with a portfolio-wide dashboard and in-building network of smart devices.

Describe the new product, including the goal (the why), function (the what), customers (for whom) and why the product and its technology are unique

Embue provides whole building intelligence, monitoring, automation, and control for apartment building portfolios, giving owners and operators visibility and control of every apartment, common space and piece of equipment in the building. With Embue, apartment buildings can become 25% more energy and carbon efficient, and staff can become 30X more efficient on key tasks, such as monitoring and controlling the temperature in apartment units and on central equipment.

Embue provides end-to-end insight and control of the entire property, monitoring the building for resident discomfort and harmful conditions, like water leaks and high humidity, and makes the property more efficient to manage through Embue Super, a dashboard that provides control, automation, and insight property wide.

Multifamily apartment building owners and operators look to Embue to meet climate and energy goals, protect assets, make staff more efficient and to ensure a comfortable and healthy environment for residents.

What measurable success has this product achieved (this can be qualitative and/or quantitative)?

While Embue can benefit any type of building, we have seen significant growth and success in the senior, senior affordable and affordable housing sectors. In the last year we have worked with industry leaders such as Winn Residential, CSI Co-op, Peabody Properties, The Schochet Companies and others to deploy our technology in a rapidly growing number of properties and in over 6,000 units.

Most often, Embue technology is installed during a retrofit, with the result being a more energy efficient building with significantly reduced carbon emissions and a more comfortable environment for residents.

What does it mean to be recognized with the other Tech Top 50 honorees?

Recognition from MassTLC in the Tech Top 50 means a great deal to us at Embue and we’re thrilled to be honored along with such an amazing group of innovators. The Massachusetts technology ecosystem is second to none, and the innovation, collaboration, and connections we’ve made have played an enormous part in our success.

We’re also especially proud of the local projects we’ve completed with industry leaders based in the state. We owe our growth to the success of these local projects and the strong relationships we’ve developed with customers, partners, and the technology ecosystem here. We’re proud of the impact our technology has had and look forward to continued innovation and growth.
